防護服不僅要排濕透氣、穿著自如，還要讓醫護人員免受診療過程中病毒、細菌等各種污染物的感染，抵擋住水液、酒精、油漬侵入，而且要有效抗靜電，甚防止灰塵進入。

由于采用微納米級別的醫衛防護非織造材料，防護服的基本要求就是“三拒一抗”，即拒水、拒血液、拒酒精以及抗靜電。靳向煜進行科普說，這樣的復合材料可以通過不同材料復合，如用聚乙烯/聚丙烯紡黏非織造布，與透氣微孔薄膜或其他非織造布復合，或用水刺非織造布與透氣微孔薄膜復合，或用木槳復合水刺非織造布。

值得注意的是，防護服材料的幾種性能有嚴格標準，包括防護性（密封性）、服用性、衛生性。其中防護性要求具有液體阻隔功能，防護服關鍵部位（左右前襟、左右臂及背部位置）帶著抗滲水性，可耐靜水壓不低于1.67千帕（kPa）；抗合成血液穿透性不低于2級，即合成血液以1.75千帕的壓強作用于防護服上，5分鐘后不得穿透；同時，防護服外側面沾水等級不低于3級。此外，還要防微顆粒物穿透，關鍵部位及接縫處對非油性顆粒物的過濾效率不低于70%。

對于服用性要求，防護服要有足夠強度和尺寸穩定性，進行拉伸試驗時，斷裂強力不低于45牛，斷裂伸長率不低于30%；穿著舒適性方面，防護服材料具有透濕量要求。而衛生性則要求自身，無皮膚刺激性，抗霉菌滋生。
For the wearing requirements, the protective clothing shall have sufficient strength and dimensional stability. During the tensile test, the breaking strength shall not be less than 45 n, and the elongation at break shall not be less than 30%; for the wearing comfort, the protective clothing material shall have the moisture permeability requirements. But the safety and health requires that it is non-toxic, non irritating and anti mildew.
